Summer break
That's Rubbish volunteers!! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have joined us on a cleanup this past season. The summer swelter has kicked in and we will resume these cleanups come end of September.
For those of you who are interested in the That's Rubbish Branches Out project (see Facebook group That's Rubbish Branches Out!) I will be in touch beginning of September to further guide you. Luckily our beaches are better taken care of in the summer months which allows us to take our gloves OFF and kick back. That's Rubbish will be distributing FREE BEACH ASHTRAYS this month (YAY) Thanks to Central Cigarette Company for sponsoring them. BUTT'S over n OUT... Have an EPIC summer ;0)) x
Beach ashtrays!
Corona Extra saves the beach
That's Rubbish was sent out to clean the beach voted dirtiest by all of you! A SAVE THE BEACH initiative sponsored by Corona Extra. The beach ironically enough voted the filthiest was Pretty Bay in Birzebbugia.
Yup, we sure did put the Pretty back in the bay so here's a cheers to all the pretty ears who heard our shout out for volunteers at Corona Extra Malta Save The Beach cleanup @ Pretty Bay The Bay.
The amount of cigarette butts in the sand was INTENSE! Put your BUTT'S OUT in a responsible place. Each cigarette BUTT takes 12 YEARS to decompose, each one of those years toxins are released into the enviornment. Serious Stuff. Start with where you Stand. Roger.
Thanks to the Save the Beach initiative for taking the time out to give our beaches some much needed attention!

St. Joseph School at L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha
Today's clean up was sooo much fun! We had 70 girls from St Joseph's school with us, and the saying 'the more hands the merrier' proved as true as words possibly can... they were singing and laughing and were truly shocked at the amount of rubbish left behind at the Ahrax camping ground.
We saved a chair from a tree, the girls found about 3 dead hedgehogs and we found one decapitated little bird ( i think it was a sparrow) along with multitudes of plastic and bullet shells.
Thanks to all of you from St Joseph's School, especially to @ Manya Russo for putting so much work into getting it altogether! Big shout out to Kim of Birdlife for coming down and informing the girls on the endangered speices we are trying to protect, as well as the regular volunteers who pitched in!
We filled 28 Recycle Bags, 40 Garbage Bags and even recorded a contender for the next Green Eurovision song!! Hope to see you all again on more clean ups.. Pura Vida!

Malta's 3rd Annual Ocean's Initiative European Wide Cleanup
Another Great Day! We had such an impressive turnout today for our European Ocean's Inititative Cleanup... and even more impressive was how spotless the beach was.
All the same we managed to fill up 13 Garbage Bags and 15 Recycle Bags. Looks like we may have to cut them ties with my favourite beach soon and clean up other areas in need!
TODAY you all made MALTA proud, such a great representation of Ethical Beings. THAT'S RUBBISH lives on through all of you, GRAZZI HAFNA!
PS. We took plenty more pics if you'd like to check them out!

Thanks to the Get Up Stand Up Crew for a great gathering at the beach today for our clean up...
We all gathered together as one with some local refugees and had a lovely day in the sun.

The far end of the beach was in a bit of a state, but it didn't remain that way for long... as our Beach Cleanin Ninja's pulled on their gloves and got down to the dirty work.

No matter how old we get, boys always love getting muddy. |
We found lots of wood washed up from the sea and plenty of plastic bottle caps, although I have seen the beach in much worse of a state. We got down right dirty and full of clay but that was half of the fun...

Ann enjoying her first That's Rubbish clean up! |
That's Rubbish/Get Up Stand Up managed to fill 15 Rubbish bags and 5 recycle bags. It feels great to know you've saved that much more from going back into the sea.
We were pleased to get a visit from Nicole Kil Nielsen who works for the Green Party/EU Parliament in France. Her support was very much welcomed and she was so happy to see such an initiative taking place that she even wrote about this to the EU Parliament! Yay!
